TARNOBRZEG LAKE

Crystal-clear water in a lake? This is possible because every year part of it is drained and the lake is filled with clean water, and - note! - approximately 5 millionm3 is refilled!

This project is undertaken by the managers of Lake Tarnobrzeg - a body of water called a miracle of ecology, as it was created as a result of filling a post-mining sulfur pit (Machów Sulfur Mine) with water from the Vistula River flowing nearby. Ninety percent of the water filled here had first class of purity. The lake's waters are among the cleanest in Poland. It is characterized by high transparency, rich underwater flora and fauna, making it a delightful place for diving and fishing enthusiasts.

The "Machów Pit" before the reclamation process was a 560-hectare area with a depth of 110 meters. Upon reclamation work in 2009,  areservoir with an area of 460 hectares and a depth of up to 42 meters was created in the pit left by Europe's largest sulfur mine. It is the second largest artificial reservoir in the Podkarpackie region and the fourth deepest in the country.

Lake Tarnobrzeg is designated as a silent zone

This means that the use of motorboats or jet skis is forbidden. Aquatic enthusiasts will find their place here, with activities supported by: the Marina Tarnobrzeg sailing marina, the LOK Machów Base Diving Team with modern accommodation facilities, numerous water equipment rentals and Wake Park Tarnobrzeg - the only place in this part of Poland where you can have fun on a wakeboard and water skis.

Those who like to relax on the shore will find sandy beaches, more than 3 km long, and a gently contoured safe swimming area

A 10.5-kilometer-long band road around the lake is a perfect place for jogging, Nordic walking, rollerblading and cycling. An unforgettable experience is provided by a tyrolean traverse suspended over the lake, where speeds of up to 70 km/h can be reached over a distance of 500 m, and a newly established rope park. The whole is complemented by modern food and beverage facilities located on Żeglarska and Plażowa streets, along with illuminated sidewalks, plazas with elements of small architecture (bicycle racks, benches with USB charging outlets, garbage bins) and parking zones.
