Lake Tarnobrzeg – The Largest Recreational Lake in Northern Podkarpackie

Lake Tarnobrzeg is the flagship attraction of the San and Vistula Valley and one of the most popular summer destinations in the Podkarpackie region. Created on the site of the former Machów Sulphur Mine, it is widely regarded as one of Poland's best examples of successful post-industrial land reclamation. Fed by water from the Vistula River, which is regularly renewed, the lake boasts exceptional water clarity and ranks among the cleanest lakes in Poland. Its rich underwater flora and fauna make it a favourite destination not only for sunseekers, but also for scuba divers and anglers.

Visitors can enjoy more than three kilometres of sandy beaches, a supervised swimming area, and extensive recreational facilities. A designated quiet zone makes the lake ideal for sailing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking and pedal boating. Thrill-seekers can try wakeboarding or ride one of the longest over-water zip lines in this part of Poland. A scenic walking and cycling path stretching over 10 kilometres surrounds the lake, making it perfect for walking, cycling and rollerblading.
