Did you know that due to the simultaneous work of two hemispheres of the brain, the regular pace of rowing left-right-left-right has precious healing power? Add to this the proximity of nature, the rays of the sun touching the body and the soothing charm of the flowing river ... Water relaxation guaranteed!
So let's go on the water trails of Rzeszów and the surrounding area!
Many water sports enthusiasts will be surprised by the mountain character of some sections of Wisłok and Wisłoka. What guarantees the most fun here and unforgettable visual impressions is the picturesque rapids and rock thresholds. The sections we suggest are safe and do not require the skills of a whitewater kayaker.
WISŁOK
ROUTE WOJKÓWKA - FRYSZTAK - MARKUSZOWA (22 km)
We are at the marina in Wojkówka and decide to go along the entire marked trail of Wisłok. When choosing a water adventure on this water route, it is worth mentioning that you can choose as many as seven marinas: Fortress, Wisłoka Valley - Frysztak, Pod Herbami - Kobyle, Frysztacka Gate, Wiśniowa - Jazowa bridge, Markuszowa bridge, Markuszowa footbridge, and even the bridge in Strzyżów. We start from Wojkówka, taking Markuszowa as the finish line.
Along this route, we have a unique opportunity to admire the highland landscape of the Czarnorzecki-Strzyżowski Landscape Park from both sides of the canoe. After approximately 3 hours of paddling, we are greeted by colorful canoe murals. Yes! This is a sign that we have reached the Wisłok Valley Marina in Frysztak, where a shed with benches and a place to make barbecue are waiting for us ... Although we can't wait for a shot of adrenaline and a rapid current of the river after reaching one of the most beautiful gorges of Wisłok - Frysztacka Gate, we rest at the marina . The Frysztak Gate is a narrow pass between hills that are many kilometers long, with the curves of Wisłok. On one side we can admire the abundantly forested Klonowa Góra range and on the other the Jazowa range. After a moment of admiration, all that remains is for us to continue paddling at a regular pace towards Markuszowa.
THE CZUDEC – RZESZÓW ROUTE (18 km)
Wisłok in this section widens and loses a bit of the character of a mountain river, although there are still rapids and boulders scattered here and there. Paddling goes smoothly here. Only in the village of Zarzecze we encounter water accumulation caused by boulders lying along the entire width of Wisłok. It is recommended to move the kayaks. Flowing with the current of the river, the closer to Rzeszów the water level clearly rises. This is a sign that we are getting closer to the Rzeszów Lagoon, a wild place on the outskirts of Rzeszów, where you can see nearly half of the country's avifauna.
Before we reach the canoe marina, we enter the paradise of water and marsh birds - the Bird Island. Between reeds, bays and smaller islands of the lagoon, a trained eye will recognize, among others teal, black terns, white-headed gulls, or mute swans, and sometimes even cormorants. We decide to explore a bit further and get along the branches. It is worth emphasizing that the biodiversity of the Rzeszów reservoir is unique country-wide. There is also the largest habitat of the protected Water chestnut in Poland. Above our heads we can also see a cousin of the predatory buzzard - a rare Western marsh harrier bird. The trip ends at the Lisia Góra kayaking marina, where another nature-adventure awaits us. After a moment of rest, we set off to the hill of the Lisia Góra oak nature reserve! Who knows, maybe we'll be lucky and spot a grass snake.
WISŁOKA
KOŁACZYCE - MOKRZEC LAKE TRAIL (24.5 km)
Already after the first strokes of the oar in Kołaczyce, we find ourselves in picturesque areas, where on the left we admire the richly forested Brzanka and Liwocza ranges. Many legends are associated with the Liwocz peak, located 562 m above sea level. One of them says that there was supposed to be a very rich town surrounding the castle there. However, the inhabitants of the city never built a church, for which the priest cursed them, and the city fell into the ground.
The river in this section has a mountainous character, but the rapids, shallows and rock thresholds found here allow you to safely flow forward. The only difficulty on this section is the pontoon bridge located near the village of Klecie, so the kayaks have to be moved here. Even an inexperienced canoeist can pass the entire section. Sailing further towards Lake Mokrzec, we are captivated by the wide valley of the Wisłoka river and the hills of the Czarnorzecki-Strzyżowski Landscape Park. Reaching the lake, after a slight effort, we rest at the campsite.
