This is the only underground railway tunnel in Poland and a unique landmark of military architecture, a rarity in Europe. Built in the late 1940/early 1941, the structure is 438 metres long and 6,45 metres tall. During Hitler – Mussolini meeting in Stępina, Hitler’s train “Amerika” was stationed in the Strzyżów tunnel. Today the tunnel is open to visitors, along with other facilities of the Anlage Süd complex. The place also hosts historical re-enactment events.
