how to get there

The focal point of the narrative is the tragic fate of the Ulma family from Markowa killed on 24 March 1944 by the Nazis along with the Jewish people they were helping. At the heart of the exhibition we can see a phantom of Wiktoria and Józef Ulma’s house. It contains a room, porch and joinery workshop. Visitors can see memorabilia related to the Ulma family, for instance furniture, books, school reports and most of all many photographs taken by Józef Ulma. The interactive exposition makes use of various media and can be explored individually by each visitor. Descriptions are provided in Polish, English and Hebrew.

The Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews in World War II in Markowa is also a place of encounters and cultural and scientific exchange regarding Polish-Jewish relations. The place hosts educational workshops for children, teenagers and adults as well as study visits of representatives of research institutions from Poland and abroad. Cultural programs and projects implemented here are designed not only for people who live in this area but also for those from all over Poland.
