Grave of Tsadik Elimelech in Leżajsk

how to get there

The first ohel of Tsadik Elimelech was built in the 1800s. During WWII Nazis destroyed the tomb and desecrated the grave in search of any valuables. The ohel was rebuilt in the 1960s. It consists of three parts: the central section holding the original matzevah from 1776, and two rooms (for men and for women). Today the grave of the Tsadik ranks among those attracting the largest numbers of pilgrims, in Poland and in Europe.
