HOW TO GET THERE

The creation of a sulfur museum in Tarnobrzeg is not accidental, because since the mid-1950s to the end of the 1990s, the town was the world centre for sulfur mining and processing.

The museum has interesting exhibitions and collections, and visitors can get a feel of a sulfur mine. A reconstructed mine shaft and drift will take you back in time to the Middle Ages. The museum collection also includes many unique items from the 20th century, such as information and warning signs, mining telephones, work uniforms, protective helmets and lanterns illuminating the largest excavators. Other points of interest are a mock-up of the open-pit mine with models of various types of excavators and conveyors, and a panorama of the Open-Pit Sulfur Mine in Machów. Outside the building there are elements of giant machines used for the extraction of sulfur ore: large transformers, motors from pumps draining the mine area, a conveyor shaft, a water pump valve, control booths, etc.
