Ulucz is a village situated in the picturesque valley of the San River

Ulucz

how to get there

The church was built on top of the hill called Dębnik, as part of defensive Basilian Monastery. At first there was a plan to build the church in the village but eventually the construction was placed on the hill. The tserkov and the monastery buildings were surrounded with two stone walls, separated with a moat; their relics can still be seen there today. After the war  and forceful relocation of Ukrainian people the church fell into ruin. Only in the 1960s the landmark was restored and opened to the public, as a branch of Museum of Rural Architecture in Sanok. The notable features inside include the pastophory – prothesis and diaconion, to be found only in the most ancient tserkovs, as well as figurative polychrome ornaments from 1682-1683. The iconostasis from 1682 is on display in the Museum of Rural Architecture in Sanok.
