The Stępina-Cieszyna tunnel (bunker no. 1) is the largest facility in the complex, 393 metres longs, nearly 12 metres high, with 2 metre thick walls. Its arched shape protected it against direct bombing. It was also provided with a system securing it against chemical attack. In 1941 Hitler’s train stopped in the railway tunnel. Today the tunnel shelter is a tourist attraction and is open to visitors.
