Strzyżów is situated along the Wisłok river, on the border between Dynowskie and Strzyżowskie Foothills, and it is one of the oldest settlements in this area

Strzyżów

how to get there

A notable landmark in the town is the Gothic church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary and of Corpus Christi, dating from the second half of the 15th century. Interesting features inside include a chancel, with a clearly visible structure of the stone wall, as well as the high altar of Immaculate Conception with a painting of Our Lady of Strzyżów.

Young visitors will particularly enjoy the Strzyżów Wheeled Train with its red locomotive and colourful carriages; it travels around the town following three routes.

A great military attraction here is the 438 metre long tunnel shelter designed for armoured trains, as well as the bunkers of technical army divisions, located in the eastern part of the town. Unlike other WWII landmarks of this type in Poland, this one is located underground - it was cut under Mount Żarnowska.
