Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszów

In addition to the production of performances, two national theatre festivals are organized here: Rzeszowskie Spotkania Teatralne and Rzeszowskie Spotkania Karnawałowe, and an international event called Theatre Poster Biennale (Biennale Plakatu Teatralnego). The theatre attic houses an exhibition of art works by Józef Szajna, one of the most important artists of the 20th century.

The theatre is located in a building that dates to 1890-1900 and was formerly used by the ‘Falcon’ Polish Gymnastic Society. The theatre launched its operation on 7 October 1944, and in 1957 received the name of its patroness Wanda Siemaszkowa, an outstanding actress who spent the last years of her life in Rzeszów.
