Summer Palace of the Lubomirski family in Rzeszów

35-231 Rzeszów

HOW TO GET THERE

Built in the late 17th century, the summer palace of the Lubomirski family, originally representing a late Baroque style, was a masterpiece designed by Tylman von Gameren. Rococo style alterations were introduced by Karol Henryk Wiedemann in the mid-18th century. Situated in the vicinity of the castle, the small palace was mainly used by the owners for leisure and entertainment, being the typical maison de plaisance – pleasure palace. It housed a court theatre and was surrounded by an impressive French garden. The palace was owned by the Lubomirski family until the end of the 18th century and then was purchased by the Kostheim family, who then sold it to the Nieć family. It was reconstructed in the 20th century. The garden was gradually ‘absorbed’ by the growing city, and only some of its features can still be seen in the vicinity of the Palace, most notably the old linden avenue along the dike leading to the castle.
