How to get there?

This is a significant historical date, that year the king Kazimierz III Wielki gave Rzeszów to the knight and diplomat Jan Pakosławic from Stróżyska. The church which stands here today was on fire many times due to Tatars, Turkish, Volochs recurring sieges, therefore it was changing its form throughout centuries. From gothic period only the entry to sacristy remained to present day. The interior is characterized as Baroque and Régence styles. The main altar was built in 1730 and hold the oil painting ‘Crucifixion’ signed by unrecognized, probably Austrian painter J. Schonbrun. The 16th c. owners of Rzeszów are buried in the chancel. Their crypt is the only in Poland known knights’ tomb with busts from 16th and 17th c. It was founded by Mikołaj Spytek Ligęza and his wife Elżbieta Komarnicka and made in Santi Gucci’s student’s workshop. The interior is also rich in side altars. Some of these altars were regularly financed by guilds of bakers, shoemakers, fur-makers, beer makers and butchers. Eye-catching are also rococo pulpit and the rood beam with crucified Christ. The baroque bell tower founded by Jerzy Ignacy Lubomirski was made according to Jan Chrzciciel Belotti's designs.

Until 18th c. around the church there was a cemetery. Wealthy residents of Rzeszów, who donated the church counting on eternal rest were buried here.  Yet, the cemetery was liquidated according to emperor Joseph II’s decree.

From the bell tower, built in 17th c. a recording of carillon composed by musician Jarosław Siwiński is played.
