The wild nature and fresh air are certainly the highlights of this place. However, the main attraction is the chapel, built on the site of Marian apparitions, which is a significant attraction of Roztocze. Beautifully situated amid a loess gorge, it attracts not only the faithful but also hiking enthusiasts
HISTORIC CHAPEL AS A TOURIST ATTRACTION OF ROZTOCZE
The history of this charmingly located monument dates back to 1896 when the chapel was built, housing a lime figure of the Virgin Mary of unknown origin. However, it's not only its mysterious origin that draws attention but also the Marian apparitions associated with it, which took place in the 17th century when the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherds. Surrounded by the forests of Roztocze, the chapel is a significant tourist attraction, drawing both the faithful and tourists. Besides its religious value, this place is famous for its miraculous spring, which is believed to have healing powers, especially for eye diseases. The water from this spring is available for consumption.
Nearby stands a stone statue of the Mother of Christ from 1943, created by a local stonemason from Brusno Stare. An iron cross, which replaced an earlier wooden one, has also been placed here. According to local stories, Rakoczy's troops, heading to Lviv, set up this wooden symbol here. In addition, there are two smaller chapels, featuring images of St. Anthony and St. Francis.
The chapel, a Roztocze attraction, is cared for by the Franciscans from Horyniec-Zdrój. Fatima devotions are held here, and on Sundays and holidays, Mass is also celebrated. Current hours can be checked on the parish website: www.horyniec.franciszkanie.pl.
