The Reserve extends from River Osława as far as the western border of Bieszczady National Park, also comprising the forest-covered mountain range along the border, with the summits of Hyrlata, Matragona, Wysoki Dział and Łopiennik
These steep mountain ranges are criss-crossed by river and stream valleys with numerous picturesque gorges, particularly impressive in the valleys of rivers Wetlinka, Solinka and Osława. In terms of tree species, the area predominantly features Carpathian beech forests (83% of the forest cover), and patches of mountainous sycamore forests as well as wetland-type alder forests.
Numerous nature reserves worth visiting here include Zwiezło (1.74 ha) – a reserve comprising Duszatyn Lakes; Gołoborze (13.90 ha); Cisy na Górze Jawor (3.02 ha); Woronikówka (14.84 ha); Olszyna łęgowa w Kalnicy (13.69 ha) and the lovely Sine Wiry (450.94 ha). The greatest summer-time tourist attraction at the Reserve is the Bieszczady Forest Train, travelling along narrow-gauge tracks from Balnica on the border with Slovakia to the scenic overlook at Przysłup Pass. Landmarks of cultural heritage, perfectly blending with the landscape of these areas, include tserkovs in Turzańsk, Smolnik, Radoszyce, Komańcza and Rzepedź, dating from the 1800s. In the vicinity, in Komańcza, we can see the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, with a guest house and a small exhibition in memory of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, Primate of Poland, who was imprisoned here in 1955–1956 by Polish communist regime.
